This great statue of iconic comic book and cartoon character Obelix from The Adventures of Asterix was created by flicker user George Panteleon a.k.a. ZetoVince. Quarter dome pieces are mainly used for shaping of the face and the wedge-slope pieces are used the built the hair and the mustache. The shaping is really impressive and very accurate to the character depicted in comics.

LEGO fan and flickr.com user BRICK 101 shared this cute brick-built Deadpool action figure in his photostream. The articulation of the figure is impressive. I like the small details like the knife and guns attached on the legs and the printed round 1x1 tile piece used as a belt buckle which has actually a soda pop can top pattern on it. The builder has created many other figures like this before so don't forget to check out his photo-stream.

We have finally returned to blogging from our very long break. Here is a masterpiece LEGO model from flickr.com user Stefan Johansson a.k.a. stej123.  The model is based on the ship seen in the comic book series called Adventures of Tintin created by Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, who wrote under the pen name Hergé. Tintin had been published in more than 70 languages with sales of more than 200 million copies. The shaping of the LEGO model is done very impressively. From distance one can say that looks like a plastic model. The color and part choices are done very well.

Talented LEGO builder and one of our guest of honors Thorsten Bonsch a.k.a. Xenomurphy shared this outstanding MOC in his flickr.com photo-stream. The shaping of the Venom in beast form is really impressive. I also liked the angled textures on the walls of he building built using tile and slope pieces.
