Calvin and Hobbes ride on a RC LEGO Cart


This awesome MOC consisting Calvin and Hobbes comic characters on a RC LEGO cart was recently shared by LEGO fan and flickr.com user grubaluk in his photostream. The shaping of the brickbuilt charaters are awesome as well as the functions of the cart. The builder also shared a video on flickr featuring the functions of the vehichle as well. Impressive Tasmanian Devil MOC

This impressive model of the Looney Tunes character Tasmanian Devil was recently shared by talented LEGO MOC'er and flickr.com user timofey_tkachev in his photostream. Like many models he has built in the past, the shaping of the body and the face is really another level. Hyenas, Amazingly Shaped Cartoon Characters


Some builders really test the limits of building possibilities using LEGO pieces. Talented MOC'er and flickr.com user timofey_tkachev who is known for his many amazing artistic creations shared this awesome MOC depicting the hyena cartoon characters together with a savanna-like scenery. The shaping of the bodies, facial expressions and posing of the animals are awesome and accurate to the original drawings. The different styles of the eyes are absolutely geniusly done to reflect the characters mental state.

Arale & Gatchan from Dr. Slump in LEGO form


LEGO fan and flickr.com user LEGO 7 recently shared this colorful and funny little MOC in his photo-stream. This MOC includes Arale Norimaki and Gatchan #1 and #2 characters from gag manga series named Dr. Slump by Akira Toriyama. These characters also show up in Dragon Ball as well. The simulated articulation of the figures looks great as well as the details on faces and accessories.

Obelix from The Adventures of Asterix by George Panteleon


This great statue of iconic comic book and cartoon character Obelix from The Adventures of Asterix was created by flicker user George Panteleon a.k.a. ZetoVince. Quarter dome pieces are mainly used for shaping of the face and the wedge-slope pieces are used the built the hair and the mustache. The shaping is really impressive and very accurate to the character depicted in comics.

LEGO Model of the Sirius from the Adventures of Tintin


We have finally returned to blogging from our very long break. Here is a masterpiece LEGO model from flickr.com user Stefan Johansson a.k.a. stej123.  The model is based on the ship seen in the comic book series called Adventures of Tintin created by Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, who wrote under the pen name Hergé. Tintin had been published in more than 70 languages with sales of more than 200 million copies. The builder did a wonderful job building this amazing model. For more photos chech out the builders photo album for the model.

The shaping of the LEGO model is done very impressively. From distance one can say that looks like a plastic model. The color and part choices are done very well.


The builder also included minifigures of characters from the book. From left to right: Tintin, Snowy (dog), Professor Calculus, Captain Haddock.

Defender of the Universe in Micro Scale

Talented LEGO builder and flickr.com user Grantmasters recently proved us all that the MOC must not be large to be impressive. The creator depicted this micro version of the giant mecha from the TV series Voltron: Defender of the Universe (1984). The model is incredible cute and also accurate to the cartoon version with its colors.

Space Runaway Ideon by Moko


Talented LEGO mech builder and one of our guest of honors LEGO DOU Moko recently shared this impressive model of Ideon robot from the Space Runaway Ideon television anime from 1980's. The design of the limbs is really outstanding which makes this robot easy to pose-able. Check out the pictures from the anime to see how accurate the LEGO model is.

Special Interview with Johan Alexanderson a.k.a. Legojalex


Today's  guest of honor is Johan Alexanderson a.k.a. Legojalex from Sweden who is known for his great cartoon related MOC's and incredible interior designs. He is also the creator of many LEGO Ideas projects incuding the his latest one, the Star Wars Bubbleheads. Photos from the work of our guest will be presented between the questions.

Kaplan: We already know you are one of the best LEGO MOC'ers in the world. What can you tell us about yourself other than that. What is your real name? What is your dayjob? Do you have any other hobbies or activities?

Johan: My name is Johan Alexanderson from Sweden. I'm educated as a computer engineer and have had a job as a web developer for many years. Though the last two years I have been working half time as a freelance illustrator and half time I've been working on a comic book for children that will be published during spring 2017. Now I write on my second comic book. Other hobbies I have are painting, Improvisational theater and playing pool. 


K: Do you remember the day when you got your first LEGO set? Which set was it? And How old were you when you started playing with LEGO bricks? 

J: One of my first LEGO set I think was 6629-1: Ambulance, but I don't remember the day I got it. I was probably around 4 years old.


Constructicons and Devastator by Kevin Ryhal

LEGO fan and flickr.com user Kevin Ryhal recently shared these cute micro-scale transformers robots in his photo-stream which brings my childhood memories back. These tiny robots are the the decepticon robots called Constructicons which come together to build another Decepticon robot Devastator in animated TV series. These robot looks very accurate to the plastic toy versions from 80's with their color-scheme and shape.

 As you can see in the first photo these robots can transform from vehicle form to robot form an with few additional parts they assemble together as the larger robot Devastator as seen in the second photo. For more info and photos you can visit MOCpages.

The Mystery Shack in LEGO Form

Flickr.com and MOCpages user soccersnyderi shared this outstanding country house MOC in his photo-stream. This house is the shack from the a tourist attraction place called The Mystery Shack in animated TV series Gravity Falls. The building technique used fro the walls are impressive. Brick-built letters on the boards are also looking nice.

Another Great Addition to Keneda's Bike Compilation Page

LEGO fan and flickr.com user nabu_tabry whose creations were blogged multiple times in our blog like the red robot and centaur knight shared his version of Keneda's Bike in his photo-stream. This version has a nice trans-light-blue windshield. The shaping is done greatly but there is not a single one sticker used for decoration. Sailor Guardians Are Ready for Action

LEGO fan and flickr.com user Takamichi Irie a.k.a. legomichiiiiii who has been blogged here with his amazing Pokemon creations shared these character figures from the Sailor Moon animated TV Series from 90's. The builder managed to create the iconic uniforms and body shapes of the characters using simpliest LEGO elements and did a very good job in my opinion.

Transformer Soundwave in LEGO Form

This MOC brought my child-hood memories back. LEGO fan and flickr.com user Joe Perez a.k.a. MortalSwordsman shared this amazing model of Soundwave a Decepticon robot from the Transformers cartoon TV series. The shaping and the colorscheme are amazingly acurate as well as the transformation capability. The creator also built smaller robots which can transform into casettes as well and they come out of the chest of Soundwave as they o in the cartoon.

Japanese Dragon by Chungpo Cheng


We often see Dragon MOC's online but this one is really outstanding. This flying japanese dragon is a character named Shenron from the cartoon Dragon Ball and was built by flickr.com member Chungpo Cheng a.k.a Cha Mi. The snake-like body shaping looks really great and makes this dragon model unique. I especially like the brick-built head section with fierce teeth and red eyes. Check out the album for more photos.

Pokemons are back!


LEGO fan and flickr.com user Takamichi Irie recently shared brick-built Pokemons in his photostream including Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur. All of the models are accurate to the cartoon with their color-scheme and body shape. The models are presented on small baseplates presenting their habitat according to their abilities.The creator also made gaming cards decorated with the MOC photos and shared them in his photo-stream. I'm very happy to see Pokemons from my chilhood memories back in LEGO form.


  

Transforming Brick Robot


We have seen transforming robots built with LEGO bricks by talented builders before but is one is extra cute. LEGO fan and sci-fi masterbuilder Moko a.k.a. LEGO DOU Moko shared this amazing robot that can transform into a brick in his photo-stream. Besides its unique transform ability the look of this thing is still incredible. I loved how the face of the robot is shaped using a simple hand and new half-round tile piece.

The Street from the Bob's Burgers by Chris Goddard

LEGO fan and flickr.com user Chris Goddard built this outstanding and cartoon-accurate street diorama from the TV Series Bob's Burgers. The details and colors resembles the buildings from the series very much as well as the logos of the shops. As a fan of TLG's official modular buildings I like these buildings very much.
