Interference 3V, an awesome starfighter by Nick Trotta

Talented LEGO builder and flickr.com user Nick Trotta a.k.a tardisblue who is well known for his amazing space MOC's shared this awesome vic viper variant namely Interference 3V in his photostream. The shaping and angles are incredible as the builders previous builds. The colorscheme looks very cool as well. My favourite sections are the engine intakes with dark blue lining and the cockpit. Check out the builders photostream for many more great MOC's. I can also check out the interview we have made with the builder in the past in our Guests of Honor section.

Floating Dystopia by Andrea Lattanzio

This awesome MOC depicting a post apocalyptic scene was recently shared by talented LEGO MOC'er and flick.com user Andrea Lattanzio a.k.a. Norton74 who is also the builder of the selected aprroved IDEAS project, A-Frame Cabin and one of our Guests of Honor. The shaping and textures on the buildings are awesome. Tons of small details and custom figures are included as well to make the build come alive. Check out the builders photostream for many more great MOC's.

Talented LEGO builder and famous MOC'er Andrea Lattanzio a.k.a. Norton74 who is a guest of honors of our blog recently shared this unique and interesting MOC in his flick.com photostream. With great part usage together with custom figures and a SUV MOC these elevated structures looks great. Be sure to check out the builders photostream for many more amazing MOC's.

Elegant Pillar Design by Thorsten Bonsch

Talented LEGO MOC'er and flickr.com user Thorsten Bonsch a.k.a Xenomurphy who is also one of our  guest of honors recently shared this small diorama including a very beautiful and elegant pillar design. This small diorama is the 28. part of the builders "The Hobbit" project. Check out the his photo album for the previous parts of the project.

Snowy Magic Bus by Andrea Lattanzio

This beautiful winter diorama was recently shared by talented LEGO MOC'er and also one of our previous guest of honorsAndrea Lattanzio a.k.a Norton74. The shaping of the vehichle in the snowy forest is amazing. Its already hard to get the dimensions right for a vehichle like this but the creator did a great job  and adding very natural looking layer of snow he makes it even greater. Also, animals like a polar bear camouflanged into the diorama are also cool addition to the MOC as well. I strongly recommend to visit the builders flickr.com photostream for many other great MOC's in various scales and from diffeten themes.

An Unusual Mecha MOC: Mega Rabbit

LEGO fan and flickr.com user Yohei Yamamoto a.k.a. LEGO DOU Moko who is known for amazing Mecha MOC's recently shared this nicely shaped and unusual MOC in his flickr photostream. It unusual for two reasons in my opinion. First reason is the usage of bionicle modified head pieces for fingers and toes and usage of hero-factory headgear pieces as kneekaps. Second reason is of course the rabbit head which looks terrifying. The creator of this MOC is also one of our Guest of Honors so you may want to check out the interview.

Joe's Wooden cottage by Andrea Lattanzio

One of our former guest of honors, talented LEGO builder Andrea Lattanzio a.k.a. Norton74 shared this wonderful wooden cottage MOC together with a tow truck. The design contains many small details and looks very clean similar to creators previous works. Andreas detailed but clean building-style is easy to recognized by extensive use of tiles and addition of lots of minifigure acessories and tools in the scenery. Irregular shape of the stack and the design of the trees look especially good. Check out the creators photo-stream for many great MOC's and also dont forget to read the Interview we had with him in the Guests of Honor section.

Special Interview with Djordje Dobrosavljevic a.k.a. Djokson

This week we continue our series of Special Interviews with another very talented guest of honor is Djordje Dobrosavljevic a.k.a. Djokson. He is known for his colorful and amazingly shaped character figures, robots and creatures of various kinds. Photos from the work of our guest will be presented between the questions but you should check the builders Flickr photo-stream for tons of amazing creations.

Kaplan: We already know you are one of the best LEGO MOC'ers in the world. What can you tell us about yourself other than that?

Djordje: Thank you, I’m very flattered! My name is Djordje Dobrosavljevic, I’m 25 and I work as a translator. My main hobby is Lego but I’ve also got an interest in music and animation. Djokson is just a nickname I picked up over the years and it kind of stuck, so I ended up using it as an online handle too.

K:  Do you remember the day when you got your first LEGO set? Which set was it? And How old were you when you started playing with LEGO bricks?

D:  My first Lego set was 8534 Tahu from the original Bionicle line, I got it on release in 2001. I was seven back then.

K:  What is your best/unforgettable memory involving LEGO?

D: I’ve had plenty of amazing experiences owing to the hobby over the years but I think having my builds featured in the Masterpiece gallery at the Lego House probably takes the cake!

K: If you have to choose, what is your all-time favorite LEGO set?

D: That’s a tough one. I think I’m going to have to say 8563Tahnok, the Bohrok were an amazing set of figures.

Special Interview with Anthony Wilson a.k.a. The Secret Walrus

This week we continue our series of Special Interviews starting with a very talented model builder from New Zealand. This weeks guest of honor is Anthony Wilson a.k.a. The Secret WalrusHe is known for his colorful and amazingly detailed dioramas and extraordinary shaped figures and vehicle. Photos from the work of our guest will be presented between the questions but you should check the builders Flickr photo-stream for tons of amazing creations.

Kaplan: We already know you are one of the best LEGO MOC'ers in the world. What can you tell us about yourself other than that? Is Anthony Wilson your real name? We are also curious where does the nick “The Secret Walrus” come from?

Anthony: I’m very flattered that you think I’m one of the best MOC’sts out there. Anthony Wilson is indeed my name. I’m Australian but I’ve lived in New Zealand for most of my life. I’m 21 years old and a computer science student with 2 years left on my degree. I don’t have many hobbies other than LEGO at the moment. I try to write/compose some music as a secondary hobby but it’s not much at the moment and I don’t really share it with anyone right now. I don’t exactly remember where my nickname ‘The Secret Walrus’ came from but I’m pretty sure the Beatles song “I am the Walrus” had something to do with it.

K:  Do you remember the day when you got your first LEGO set? Which set was it? And How old were you when you started playing with LEGO bricks?

A: Aside from Duplo I’m pretty sure my first LEGO set was the original Hogwarts Express. I must’ve been 3 or 4 when I got it which seems like an awfully young age to get a set like that but I built it regardless. I still have the parts from it in my collection to this day.

Special Interview with Beat Felber aka Engineering with ABS

After a long break, we continue our series of Special Interviews starting with a very talented model builder. This weeks guest of honor is Beat Felber a.k.a. Engineering with ABS from Switzerland. He is known for his amazing realistic and huge vehicle model MOC's. Photos from the work of our guest will be presented between the questions but you should check the builders Flickr photo-stream for tons of amazing creations

Kaplan: We already know you are one of the best LEGO MOC'ers in the world. What can you tell us about yourself other than that?

Beat: First of all I would like to thank you for the opportunity to share some of my thoughts with other LEGO fans out there. Rather than being a top MOC'er, I consider myself to be an avid scale modeller. My name is Beat Felber and I live in the northernmost part of Switzerland, close to the border with Germany. I am aged 40 and work as an engineer at an electric power plant. When not building LEGO models, I tinker with and drive a 1984 Land Rover 110, do some photography and I am also a firefighter with the local volunteer fire department. Back in 2001 I decided to share my LEGO creations with other like-minded people on the internet. It was the birth of my homepage www.engineeringwithabs.ch. I called this site Engineering with ABS because I thought it describes what I am doing: building models of technical stuff using LEGO bricks made of Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). In the meantime, I switched over to Flickr. The original homepage is still online but not maintained any more.

K: Do you remember the day when you got your first LEGO set? Which set was it? And How old were you when you started playing with LEGO bricks?

B: The first sets must have been Duplo sets. Of course, I don’t remember them exactly any more. But I do have fond memories of my very first Technic Set: Technic Universal Building Set 8030. I got it as a gift from my late granddad when he was celebrating his 60th birthday. I just turned four years old that day! My first City set was the Shell ServiceStation 377.

Sheriff Hopper's Cabin from Stranger Things by Andrea Lattanzio

This wonderful MOC depicting the Sheriff Hopper's Cabin from the Netflix series Stranger Things was recently shared by talented LEGO Builder Andrea Lattanzio a.k.a. Norton74 who is one of our Guest of Honors. Both the building and the vehicle were shaped greatly and accurately to the versions in the series.

Slalom Probemaster An Exploring Ski-bot by Eero Okkonen

Talented LEGO builder and flickr.com user Eero Okkonen who is also one of the Guests of Honor in Tiles or Studs Blog shared this awesome and unusual bot MOC in his photostream. The design of the legs are really compact and mechanical looking. The torso section is built using buildable action figure / bionicle pieces which looks unusually nice. I also liked the custom figure with the old headgear piece from the old Adventurers Orient Express Line from 2003. Small arctic plant with snow on it is also a beautiful touch to the scene. Check out the guests of honor page and builders photostream for more great creations like this.

Special Interview with Eero Okkonen a.k.a. Pate-keetongu

This weeks guest of honor is Eero Okkonen a.k.a. Pate-keetongu from Finland. He is well known for his amazing large figures and steampunk creations. He also shared many impressive purist custom mini-figures as well. Photos from the work of our guest will be presented between the questions.

Kaplan: We already know you are one of the best LEGO MOC'ers in the world. What can you tell us about yourself other than that. What is your real name? What is your dayjob? Do you have any other hobbies or activities?

Eero: I am Eero Okkonen. I write about my LEGO hobby on my blog Cyclopic Bricks. I’m from Joensuu, Eastern Finland, and I’m currently studying architecture on Tampere University of Technology (TUT). It’s my first year there, and it’s very interesting. I’m planning to graduate as an architect in 2021. My other hobbies include art in general (drawing, oil and watercolour, general tinkering – though my studies include most of them), music (I can’t play anything, but I listen to lot of it and buy records regularly), board games, reading, cycling, hiking… And naturally hanging with friends doing nothing particularly but doesn’t everybody do that.

K: Do you remember the day when you got your first LEGO set? Which set was it? And How old were you when you started playing with LEGO bricks?

E: No. I played with DUPLO before actual bricks (or pikku-leegot as they are called in Finland, sometimes), and I had plenty of my father’s old bricks from 70’s. But I remember some of my earliest set and these include quite good-looking 6335 Indy Transport (which was released only a year after I was born) and not-so-good 6474 4-wheeled front shovel. I’ve been around 4 or 5 years old back then.

T: I remember having Duplo as a kid, but one day my mom brought home a value pack of small System sets when I was two. I remember being fascinated by the tiny bricks. And so the addiction began.

In my day job I work as a telecommunications field engineer for a major telecoms provider. I do quite a bit of travelling daily so I get a chance to see plenty of different styles of building which, of course, helps inspire me to build a variety of styles. When I am not at work I try to keep fit by running. I enjoy watching movies and following my local ex-premier league :( football team.

K: Do you remember the day when you got your first LEGO set? Which set was it? And How old were you when you started playing with LEGO bricks?

A: I think I was around 4 or 5 years old I received two sets at Christmas time, 6522 - Highway Patrol and 6506 - Precinct Cruiser. They were given by a friend of my mother and I apparently loved them so much my own parents followed up with more classic town sets in the years to come.
