Working hard to create a trebuchet

Our one of favorite MOCer that we follow, jsnyder002 build a new creation for Category B of Challenge V over on Guilds of Historica and ABS Builder challenge. Katoren Siege Workshop is capable of building all types of siege weapons. I'm addicted to jsnyder002's Medieval and Mediterranean styled MOCs. Everytime I stopped nearly ten minutes to go into details and minifigures.

Kastra Gatehouse by Giorgos Solomonidis

LEGO Fan and flickr.com member Giorgos Solomonidis who love to user different pieces on the top of the buildings, created an impressive gatehouse MOC. Kastra Gatehouse is part of a bigger project named "Kastra of Thessaloniki", he said. It is the entrant of Guilds of Historica, for Age of Mitgardia challenge. I mostly liked the use of l-bley car top piece as an gate wall. Viking hull pieces make this MOC unique.

After a vacation week full of sun and sea we are back with awesome blogged creations. This beautiful micro-scale landscape was built by flickr.com user and LEGO fan Emil Lidé a.k.a. Full Plate. For those who don't know Avalonia is a fictional state in the Guilds of Historica in Eurobricks.com. The colors and the shaping of the trees are really great but my favorite section is the small pier on the shore of the small lake.

LEGO Castle fan and flickr.com user jsnyder002 recently shared this vignette which is a Kaliphlin free-build for the Guilds of Historica in Eurobricks.com. Builders know very well that it is not easy to make a proper ruins MOC. The creators choice of the colors to create the castle ruins are interesting. Especially dark blue color added a very unique look to the creation. Texturing of the ground also looks nice.

Special Interview with Marco den Besten a.k.a. 'Ecclesiastes

This week we have one of the best historical MOC builders as our Guest. Marco den Besten from the Netherlands who is known for his huge historical/fantasy cities and castle MOC's was kind to answer our questions. Photos from the work of our guest will be presented between the questions.

Kaplan: We already know that you are one of the best MOC'ers in the world. What can you tell us about yourself other than that? What is your day job? Do you have any other hobbies or activities?

Marco: I work in retail for a living. Yes, one of those jobs were you have to cope with wining customers all day. It’s a good thing I’ve got LEGO to relax. Other than, of course, building, I like fishing, plenty of water here in the Netherlands. And I like hiking, which I prefer doing in mountainous areas. But that’s something we don’t have here, unfortunately.

K: Do you remember your first day when you get your first LEGO set?

M: I think I got my first sets when I was around three, so I don't recall my very first one. However, I do remember the first large set I got. It was the 6271, Imperial Flagship. Which I was, of course, very happy with, and it is one of the best Lego ships ever made. So were all the ships that were made during those years.

You know, we can't go back

Eurobricks member and flickr.com user Mengish a.k.a. balikciklar shared this beautiful historical MOC full of foilage in his photo-stream. According to the description the MOC is based on previous MOC "The Unholy Guardian of the Deceased" and was built for the Guilds of Historica on Eurbricks where you can read the story behind the MOC. I personally liked the enterance of the building the most. Check out the album for more photos.

LEGO fan and Eurobricks.com member don leopold shared his recent addition to City of Barqa. During the civil war on Kaliphlin, two strangers arrived at Port of Barqa. It is quite simple MOC with plenty of details. I liked the big moustached man and sellers of the port. Star Wars half-dome piece is perfectly combined with the color selections of the harbour building.

This MOC is built for the Guilds of Historica collective story-line in Eurobrick.com. I especially like the main gate and textured wall design.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/129722661@N05/25200209961/in/dateposted/
Eurobricks.com and flickr.com member Tirrell Brown a.k.a. Blufiji shared this amazing fantasy themed fort built for the Guilds of Historica of Eurobricks the in his photo-stream. The vegetation and the building techniques used for the fortress are really impressive. The color combination and part selection are also done greatly. I used to see nicely shaped round towers in castle MOC's but I especially like how the wooden (reddish brown) sections of the towers are made. All things together this creation becomes a wonderful swamp MOC!

Frost Spear Tower from Midgardia by Tirrell Brown

Eurobricks member and LEGO Fan Tirrell Brown a.k.a Blufiji shared this outstanding medieval tower, Frost Spear in his flickr.com photo stream. This build has interesting snow effects created by using different types slopes and tiles. I especially like the pipes that pumps the water out of the hot spring. The grey wall texturing and wooden frames look also cool. Maybe more than one type of plant could be used as foliage. This tower was built for the Eurobricks' Guilds of Historica clan Midgardia which represents lands covered with snow.

Perfect Use of Rounded Wall Technique

Lavenwood Vale

LEGO Fan and flickr.com member Tirrell Brown created a middle-sized and also well-designed MOC named Lavenwood Vale on his own photo stream.

He not only used an old rounded wall technique which requires 1x2 bricks and 1x1 rounded bricks, but also used masonry bricks,1x1 rounded tiles, 1x2 tiles with stud on one side bricks to provide a perfectly-looking deformed wall.

I liked the color scheme of the MOC but mostly liked the shortie tree with Lavender Plant Leaves 4x3.

Amazing Castles!

There are two castle dioramas are shared by talented LEGO builders in Flickr you don't wanna miss. The first castle was built by the César Soares a.k.a. Cesbrick whose creations like medieval buildings were shared in our blog before. Bluewater  castle is large castle with fine detailed walls and unique and nontraditional wall shaping.

The second castle named Amortug was shared by LEGO fan and Eurobricks member Marco den Besten a.k.a. 'Ecclesiastes who is also known for his great creations of Guilds of Historica. The creator also shared many detail photos from the huge built and as you will see the castle interior is full with amazing details as well. Aside from the impressing side of the diorama what I liked the most is the modelling of the trees beneath the castle. I'm not fond of the water sections filled with different colored 1x1 round plates but other than that this diorama is perfect.
